Frequently Asked Questions

Does Sacred Soul Counseling accept insurance?

At this time, Sacred Soul Counseling does not bill insurance. However, clients can be provided with a Superbill to give to their insurance provider for possible reimbursement. All credit and debit cards are accepted, and payment is due at time of service.

How do I know if we are good fit?

The best way to know whether we will be a good fit would be to attend a session. After the first session, you should have some insight into whether we will work well together and I can provide services that will meet your needs.

What if we’re not a good fit?

It happens, and that’s okay. If we’re not a good fit, we can talk about what you are looking for in a therapist (and it’s okay if you don’t know!) , and I can provide referrals to other professionals who might be a better fit for you and your needs.

What happens during the first session?

It can be a little nerve racking when thinking about the first session. In the first session, you’ll share your story or your needs, and maybe what you’d like to see happen, or a goal.

We’ll review opening paperwork, and discuss privacy, confidentiality, and HIPAA.

I’ll likely ask some questions, like about your career, childhood, parents, and relationships. I’ll most definitely ask what you would like to get from therapy, and talk about how I could help you to get those benefits.

At the end, we’ll discuss treatment options, and frequency, and discuss how that will work for you (and partner/family if in session).

What do I need for online therapy?

Please find a quiet, and private area where you feel comfortable. You also need a stable, high speed internet connection.

How long does a session last?

It sometimes depends on the type of therapy, but in general, the standard therapy hour is 45-55 minutes.

We can discuss this in your first session if you need more flexible scheduling or session times.

Do we have to meet every week?

In the beginning, I prefer that we meet every week because it allows us to get some traction and focus on the challenges you bring to therapy and the goals you want to achieve. However, I also know that life gets in the way, and that a regularly scheduled appointment may not be possible. In our first session, we’ll talk about your needs, and schedule, and talk candidly about what you can do right now.

What happens if I cancel?

I require that you give me 24 hour notice of cancellation or you will be charged for the session. I have this policy because I value the time we’ve set aside to meet consistently to process and work toward your goals, and I know you do, too.

An exception might be made, on a case by case basis, in the case of emergency.

Do you provide medication?

I am not a medical doctor and cannot prescribe medication. Many clients find medication helpful during treatment, and I can provide referrals to doctors for assessment, but many of my clients progress without medication.

We can talk about medication or referral for assessment at any time!
